Dancer, Teacher, and Mentor
For over 9 decades, Charles continued his dedication and love of dance by sharing his stories, history, and memories with others. At the age of 91, he contributed to the Chicago Dance History Project. In 2024 Charles Grass passed away at the impressive age of 96, but his dance legacy remains for future generations to explore.

Charles Grass began dancing with his childhood friend the legendary Bob Fosse, as a vaudeville act The Riff Brothers from 1938 to 1945. They traveled to a variety of entertainment venues to perform as the tap-dancing duo Bob & Charlie Riff!
He was a prominent dancer for the Ruth Page Chicago Ballet.
Charles continued his dance career and established a dance studio in Chicago and later in Los Angeles. He became a popular choreographer, highly respected teacher and mentor for hundreds of dance teachers and students.
Charles was also a ballet and tap dance instructor for the National Association of Dance & Affiliated Arts (N.A.D.A.A.) from 1953 to 1972.
In the following years, he served as a judge at dance competitions across the United States.
He has provided invaluable insight into Bob Fosse's early years in several biographical books.
